Garden Cloches In The Winter

Using garden cloches in the winter can be a vegetable saver. Of course, temperatures drop significantly in most regions, but with cold temperatures, there’s also frost and the dreaded snow.

Unless you live in Hawaii, there’s always the possibility of frost and horrible, cold weather that can be devastating for seedlings.

You’d think that Australia is far enough south that frost and snow would not be a concern.

Wrong!

All of them have had freezing temperatures that brought in frost or snow.

It’s always a pain to be on the lookout for freezing weather. That’s why garden cloches in the winter work so well.

You just put them down and leave them. They end up sheltering your plant from everything, including snow!

In my case, I used my garden cloche to cover a head of lettuce.

It keeps it from the cold and retains the moisture, and the snow that melts ends up watering the ground below the lettuce.

The best part is that I don’t need to worry about babysitting my plants!

I put the cloche down and just left it. It’s transparent, so there’s plenty of light, and the vents allow for air circulation.

Garden cloches in the winter are like giving each of your plants a greenhouse. Give these unique plastic garden plant covers a try.
